Fardeen Khan: the hunk!
This good-looking son of yesteryear actor Feroz Khan is one of the most popular actors in Bollywood, especially among women. Though he was brought up in India, his education is done abroad. He was born on 8th March, 2008 to a Muslim father and a Hindu mother. From the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the USA, Fardeen has completed his education in Business Management. Fardeen hails from a distinguished family and his family has been in the film industry for years. His father Feroz Khan is both an actor and a director while his uncle is actor Sanjay Khan and his cousin; Zayed Khan is also an actor of Bollywood. In the year 1998, Fardeen Khan made his debut in Bollywood, with the film ‘Prem Aggan’, his father, Feroz Khan, directed the movie. He won the ‘Filmfare Best Debut Male’ award for his performance in the film. This was his first award ever.

The Ram Gopal Verma directed movie ‘Jungle’ which came in 2000 was a hit and this helped Fardeen Khan to establish himself as an actor. In this movie , Fardeen was paired opposite the versatile actress Urmila. In fact, Fardeen and Urmila has done four movies together including ‘Jungle’, the other two are ‘Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’, ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ and ‘Bhoot’. His other noticeable movies are ‘Khushi’(2003), ‘Dev’(2004), ‘No Entry’ , ‘Heyy Babby’ and others. The film ‘Dev’ which came in 2004 gave Fardeen critical acclaim, the movie also had Amitabh Bahchan, Om Puri and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. An actor of a different class, this actor has given performances that will put him in the top spot with the best in Bollywood.

Bollywood at US theatres

Under the brand name Big, Reliance Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (REPL) has put up its socks to start a film chain in US from the next month. The company has claimed that the more than 200 theatres will show both Hindi and regional films particularly from South India. According to a company official who has confirmed the schedule, renovating and refitting of the cinemas that have been acquired is being done and announcement will be done formally about the opening of the theatre later.

The information states that Reliance Entertainment has acquired over 200 cinema halls in 28 North American cities which include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and Washington in the last one year. These theatres will have the company’s name Big instead of Adlabs by which REPL’s cinemas in India are called. An American theatre management firm has been bought by REPL for overseeing the operations of its Big cinema chains. As REPL is in the task of producing Hindi movies and other in other regional movies under the Big Pictures banner, it may also get into distributing movies overseas for its outlets exhibition in foreign countries will help it fix up its distribution venture. It will also screen other Asian countries movies for those not living in their respective countries. Both the mainstream Hollywood movie and art house productions and movies which are made by the independent producer that will be screened will add to the glory of the brand of the Big cinemas. Screening Indian movies will help in making good profit from the US box office.

Gul panag

This dimple-cheeked beauty, Gul Panag, has remained the former Miss India. She won this prestigious crown in the year 1999. She has also competed for the Miss Universe pageant and came 6th at the event. Gul is from a family, which has an Army background. Gul Panag’s father is a Lieutenant General in the Indian Army and presently is the Army Commander of the Northern Command. In the year 1979, in Chandigarh, India, Gul was born on 3rd January.

Before winning the Miss India pageant, Gul has also won the Colgate Miss Beautiful Smile contest in Chennai. After winning the Miss India crown, film offers came flooding in and also various music videos and advertisements. She is most beautiful and glamorous looking actress of Indian films. Gul panag has now a very high position in the glamour world. She has done serials named ‘Dhoop’ and ‘Kashmeer’. She had earlier done a film called ‘Jurm’ but it was with ‘Dor’ that Gul calimed to fame as Zeenat. The other film where she has acted is ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’. Gul now has various films in her store where she will be again able to prove herself as a good actress of Bollywood.

Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan is sexy and smart and she is a household name today. She is known more for her foreign accent and sex appeal than for her acting. Jiah Khan was born in New York on 20th February. She is the daughter of a Muslim Indian American, Ali Rizvi Khan and actress Rabia Amim. Though Jiah was born in New York, she grew up in London. After Angelina Jolie’s movie GIA, Jaih Khan changed her name from Nafisa to Jiah. She has completed her A levels in film studies and literature in London. Jiah has also been a student of Lee Strasberg Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She made her debut in the year 2007 with the film ‘Nishabd’. It was a much debated and controversial movie directed by Ram Gopal Verma where she played the love interest of a much old person, played by Amitabh Bachchan. The film although received mixed reviews, began Jiah Khan’s career at Bollywood in style.

Jiah Khan has got yet another golden opportunity to share screen with Aamir Khan and Asin Thottumkal in A.R. Murugadoss’s Ghajini Hindi remake. Sajid Khan of ‘Heyy Babyy’ fame has also signed Jiah for his next movie ‘Housefull’ which will also star Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Ritesh Deshmukh. Jaih’s childhood favorite movies are ‘Rangeela’ and ‘The Devil’s Advocate’. She likes listening to Aaliyah and her role model is her mother who has a passion for singing and is formally trained in classical opera. She knows as many as five different forms of dancing. Jiah Khan has great potential to become an actress of great worth in the near future.

Rimi Sen

Another beauty from Bengal: Rimi Sen also called Rimii Sen
Rimi Sen is another beauty from Bengal who has appeared in couple of films in Bollywood. This good-looking Indian dusky actress hails from Kolkata and was born on 21st September, 1981. Her real name or birth name is Shubhomitra Sen but she prefers using ‘Rimii Sen’. She has taken training in Odisi dancing and is in the dance troupe of the eminent Odisi exponent Aloka Kanungo, who is also based in Kolkata. It was Rimi Sen’s dream to become an actress and with this dream, which she wanted to fulfill, she came to Mumbai. When she auditioned for a Coca-Cola advertisement she was noticed for the first time. The director of the ad, Priyadarshan who was instantly impressed by her, signed for the film ‘Hungama’ which came in 2003. This was her first film and this film established Rimi Sen as an actress in Bollywood.

In the famous movie ‘Baghban’ later in the year 2006, Rimi Sen was given the role of the spoilt granddaughter of Hema Malini and Amitabh Bachchan, the leading actors of the film, which she portrayed very well. The next big hit of her career was ‘Dhoom’ which came in the year 2004 under the Yash Raj banner. Here, Rimi Sen played the role of a Bengali wife to Abhishek Bachchan. She has even appeared though in a very little role in the sequel to this movie, which was named ‘Dhoom 2’. Her other films include ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, ‘Golmaal’, ‘Johnny Gaddar’ and many more. Koena Mitra: the next dance queen

Named after the renowned river in Bengal, Koena Mitra came to limelight after she won the Gladrags Supermodel Contest in 2002. Koena is an Indian actress who started her career as a model and she reached great heights as a model. Koena Mitra was born in Kolkata. She has taken training under Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for 12 years and she is a fantastic dancer , which shows on her onscreen dance performance. Tusshar Kapoor

Made for the stars: Tusshar Kapoor. This Sagittarian is the son of actor Jeetendra, is famously known as the ‘jumping jack’ of Bollywood. Like his father, Tusshar Kapoor has also joined the big league of Bollywood actors. Tusshar Kapoor was born on November 24, 1976 and has studied at the University of Michigan. His sister Ekta Kapoor is the creative head of Balaji Films, which produces numerous popular soaps that come on Indian television. Tusshar Kapoor made his debut in the year 2001 with the film ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’. He was paired opposite Kareena Kapoor who is also the daughter of yesteryear actors – Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor. The film was huge box office hit and the film earned Tusshar to fetch his first award ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut Award’. He has shared the screen with his father in the thriller ‘Kuch To Hai’ in the year 2003. The film ‘Gayab’ which was released in the year 2004 gave Tusshar criticail acclaim. Under this Prawal Raman’s direction, Tusshar had played the role of a nerd who becomes invisible in the course of the time.

Tusshar Kapoor gave powerful performance in the movie ‘Khakee’ which was released in 2004 and also had Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. Though the film was moderately successful in the box office , he was highly appreciated b the critics.
