Govinda

Govind Arun Ahuja or Govinda is an award-winning actor of the Indian film industry. Besides being an actor, Goinda is also a Member of Parliament of the Mumbai North Constituency of Maharastra in India. Govind has done as many as one-twenty films in Bollywood. Govinda was born on 21st December in the year 1963 and his first film was ‘Ilzaam’ which came in 1986 and was box office hit. Govinda is a much known dancer. Govinda claimed to fame with his films like ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’, ‘Aankhen’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ and many more. He is very popular for his dancing skills and his comic timing. Govinda is a commerce graduate from the Annasaheb Vartak College in Vasai, Maharashtra. Under David Dhawan’s direction, Govinda has done seventeen movies.

Govinda has given his audiences many fun filled hit films. The list of his successful comedy films is endless. He has shared his screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1997 hit ‘Bade Miyaan, Chote Miyaan’. In the film ‘Shikhar’ where Govinda played the role of a negative character won him many accolades. After joining politics, Govinda had taken a break from films, but he had made his comeback with the comedy film ‘Bhagam Bhag’ directed by Priyadarshan. The film was hit of 2006. Govinda’s performance in the movie ‘Salaam-e-Isqh, A Tribute to Love’ was well appreciated, though it was a box office failure. His second release for 2007 was ‘Parnter’ directed by David Bhawan was huge hit of the year.

Naseeruddin Shah

Naseeruddin Shah is rated among the best actors of all times in the Indian film industry. This talented Indian actor was born on July 20, 1950, and he was interested in acting from a very tender age. He has graduated from National School of Drama in the year 1973 and has studied in Film and Television Institute of India. In the year 1975, Naseeruddin made her debut in Shyam Benegal’s ‘Nisahnt’. In the film ‘Sparsh’ , Naseeruddin played a blind man and this made his place permanent in the Indian film industry as an actor.

He won the National Film Award in the best actor category for this film. Naseeruddin Shar belongs to the time of ‘New Wave’ cinema which was the name given to the young directors who started making different movies. The other actors of this time are Shabana Azmi, Smita Partil and Om Puri who appeared in offbeat or art films like ‘Bhumika’ , ‘Bhavni Bhavai’, ‘Ardh Satya’ , ‘Mirch Masala’ and few more. His awesome performance in the 1982 film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ revealed Shah’s versatility. With the film ‘Hum Paanch’, Shah came to act in the mainstream cinema as earlier he was acting in parallel or art films. The 1986 multi-starrer ‘Karma’ gave Shah more recognition in the commercial movies; here he acted with Dilip Kumar. His other noted movies include : ‘Ijaazat’ which was released in 19987, ‘Jalwa’ ,’Hero Hiralal’ and many more. He has received three Filmfare Awards in the best actor category and also the ‘Volpi Cup’ award in the best actor category for the movie ‘Paar’.

Om Puri

The Indian film industry has many talented actors, who have proved their versatility again and again, actor Om Puri can easily be listed in one of them. Om Puri is an Indian actor with extraordinary acting skills. Om Puri acts in both commercial which is also called mainstream Indian film and also in art films. Puri was born on 18th October, 1950 in Ambala, in Punjab, India. Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah have been classmates in the National School of Drama. Other than Indian films, Om Puri has also appeared in American and British films.

In the year 1956, Om Puri made his debut with the film ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ which was based on a Marathi play with the same name. Puri is mostly known for playing unconventional roles which includes films like: Aakrosh’ in 1982, which was directed by Govind Nihalani, ‘Ardh Satya’ in 1982, the movie was also directed by Govind Nihalani and the much acclaimed Gulzar directed ‘Maachis’ in 1996. Om Puri received his National Award in the best actor category for the film ‘Ardh Satya’. His international projects include ‘My Son the Fanatic’, ‘City of Joy’, ‘Patrick Swayze: Wolf’ where he starred along with Jack Nicholson and ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’, he has done a cameo in Richard Attenborough directed ‘Gandhi’. He portrayed with brilliance the comic character in ‘Chachi 420’. Om Puri is a great actor.

Anita Hassanandani aka Natassha

Anita Hassanandani better known as Natassha is a model, television actress and also a film actress of the Indian film industry. Anita has been the model for popular advertisement campaigns like ‘Sunsilk’, ‘Boroplus’ and many other well known brands. Her acting career started as a television actress. Ekta Kapoor chose her for the lead role in the serial ‘Kabhi Sautan Khabie Saheli’. This serial was very much successful and opened the doors for more offers for Anita or Natassha. Her forthcoming film is ‘Ek Se Bure Do’ opposite Arshad Warsi.
