Saif Ali Khan: ‘Laangda Tyagi’

Saif Ali Khan, son of the former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and of the veteran yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore, is one of the most popular actors of Bollywood. He belongs to the well known family of the Nawabs of Pataudi. Saif was born on August 16 in the year 1970 he was admitted to the Lockers Park Prep School and then he joined Winchester College. He has two sisters Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan, the former is a popular actress of Bollywood films. Saif Ali Khan made his debut in Hindi films with the movie ‘Parampara’ in 1992. His next film came in the year 1993, ‘Aashiq Awara’ for which he won the ‘Filmfare Best Male Debut Award’. In 1994, came Saif’s breakthrough role in the movie ‘Yeh Dillagi’ where he shared his screen space with Askhay Kumar and Kajol. This was his first major hit. Then Saif went on to act in many films though most of them were unsuccessful.

Saif Ali Khan career got a great boost with the film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ that came in the year 2001. The movie was directed by the well known film maker ‘Farhan Akhtar’. The movie focused on the relationship between three friends played by Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Khanna and Aamir Khan. His most memorable performance till date was as ‘Laangda Tyagi’ in Vishal Bharadwaj directed movie ‘Omkara’. This movie was an adaptation of the drama ‘Othello’, written by Shakespeare. He has given some breathtaking performance in this film. Saif Ali Khan has surely carved a niche for himself. Good going Saif !
