Paresh is an actor of great worth; he hails from a Gujarati family and has acted by now more than hundred and twenty films. He started acting in 1984 and his debut film was ‘Holi’. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s , Paresh Rawal played the roles of mostly villains and he indeed was a master in that. Paresh Rawal was a student of the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Vile Parle in Mumbai. Paresh Rawal’s most commendable films include ‘Sardar’ which came in 1992, here he portrayed Vallabhbhai Patel, a noted freedom fighter of India, ‘Maya Memesaab’ which came in 1993, in this film which also had Shah Rukh Khan and was based on Madame Bovary, Paresh played a shop-owner who schemes and entraps the title character into a series of financial schemes, the critically acclaimed film ‘Tamaana’ of 1996, where he played the challenging role of a ‘hijra’. The other noted characters he had played include Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in ‘Hera Pheri’, one of three blind bank robbers in ‘Aankhen’ and many more. Paresh Rawal has won the prestigious National Award for his roles in ‘Sardar’ and ‘Tamaana’ by the President of India.
