Irfan khan: From banegi apni baat to Namesake

The other Khan who is slowly and gradually gaining popularity not only because of his choice of films but also for his talent as an actor is Irfan Khan. Irfan Khan is an immensely talented actor who acts in Indian films, television and theatre. He earned a scholarship in to study at National School of Drama when he was studying for his M.A. in the year 1984. He graduated in the year 1987, and then he shifted to Mumbai. It is in this place that Irfan started acting in television. He has acted in serials like ‘Chanakya’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ and ‘Chandrakanta’ which were telecasted on Doordarshan.

He has even appeared in ‘Star Best Sellers’ and many more programs which came on television. Irfan has even played the role of the villain in the series named ‘Darr’ which was aired on Star Plus. Here he had played the role of a psycho killer and the series also had Kay Kay Menon. Irfan had appeared in the critically acclaimed movie of the 90s ‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut’ and ‘Such a Long Journey’. It was with the historical movie ‘The Warrior’ directed by the London-based director Asif Kapadia that took Irfan’s career to the top gear. The movie had stormed in international film festivals in 2001.With films like The Namesake (2007) and A Mighty Heart (2007), Irfan received recognition internationally. His performance in ‘Maqbool’ was widely appreciated by critics. Irfan has won the ‘Filmfare Best Villian Award’ for the film ‘Hasil’ in 2004. His 2007 release of ‘Life in a Metro’ won him praises.
