Konkona Sen Sharma: The dark Beauty.This daughter of the veteran actress of Bengali films and much acclaimed filmmaker Aparna Sen has made it big in Bollywood. Konkona Sen Sharma was born on 3rd December, 1979 She hails from West Bengal and has done her schooling from Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata She has done her graduation in English from St. Stephens College, New Delhi. It was with the film ‘Mr. and Mrs.’ Iyer’(2002) directed by Aparna Sen, Konkona made a mark. This film was both commercially and critically successful and had Rahul Bose in the lead. Earlier when she was small, she had appeared in ‘Indira’. With the movie ‘Ek Je Ache Kanya’ ,Konkona made her debut in films. In this movie Konkona Sen Sharma had played a negative character and the movie starred Sabyasachi Chakravarty and Indrani Halder.

The other critically acclaimed film was ‘Titli’ directed by Rituparna Ghosh, which had Mithun Chakravarty and Aparna Sen in the main lead. Konkona’s performance in ‘Mr. and Mrs.’ Iyer’ as the Tamil housewife earned her lots of praise and she won her first award ‘National Film Award for Best Actress’. ‘Page 3’ (2005), where she played the role of a reporter and was directed by Madhur Bandhakar won her critica appreciation. For this movie Konkona Sen Sharma won the ‘Zee Cine Award Best Female Debut’. Her last year’s movie were ‘Life in a…Metro’ and ‘Aaja Nachle’. The former movie was a huge hit and Konkona received the ‘Filmfare Award’ for the ‘Best Supporting Actress’. Her other commendable film was ‘Omkara’ directed by Vishal Bharadwaj opposite Saif Ali Khan.
